10th Annual WiredKids Summit | Teenangels / Scrapbook / Articles / Personal Information on the Web
Personal Information on the WebIf you were walking down the street and a stranger came up to you, you wouldn’t give them your name and other personal information, would you? Of course you wouldn’t. The same rule applies on the Internet. When surfing the web, never give out information that defines who you are. For example, your name, age, address, phone number, your school’s name, your hobbies/interests, etc. Any personal information can be used to lure and attract harmful strangers online. Since the web is open to everyone in the world, it’s very important to watch what you post online. When creating profiles, we, the Teenangels, strongly recommend that you keep it simple and don’t post a lot of information about yourself. Remember, it doesn’t take a lot of info for someone to learn a whole lot about you. Once they learn more about you, you and your identity are at risk. Be careful and cautious when submitting and sharing your personal information on the web. Teenangel Vivian |
